As a former member of the 1st Brigade, A Company 2/327, NO SLACK, I once again sign our book and to add words of support to the Eagles recently deployed. I detect in our society a repeat of the attitude of the anti war sentiment in early Vietnam. Seems the very rich are at it again. I know that I speak for alot of Eagles when I say we are with you in mind and soul. Stay safe and give em hell

101ST AIRBORNE DIVISION (AIR ASSAULT) RECEIVES DEPLOYMENT ORDERS
FORT CAMPBELL, Ky., February 6, 2003. - The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and associated units stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky,
have received orders to deploy to the U.S. Central Command area of operations (AOR) to support possible future operations in the global war on terrorism. The specifics of any such operations are not known at this
time. As the world's premiere air assault division, the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and its 270 helicopters will provide Central Command substantial operational flexibility and combat power, as well as
the ability to conduct long-range helicopter attacks and air assault operations should those capabilities be required to successfully prosecute the global war on terrorism. The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) provided some of the first combat units in Afghanistan - which included Task Force Rakkasan and
Apache Attack Helicopters - and these units participated in Operation Anaconda and the other major operations conducted in the spring and summer of 2002.
Units that have received deployment orders include elements of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), the 101st Corps Support Group, and the 86th Combat Support Hospital. Fort Campbell leaders cannot at this time discuss specific numbers of soldiers deploying or deployment destinations; nor can they speculate on
future employment of forces.

Just checking in. Good to see so many brothers checking in. When you think about all the years that have passed, the number of men who served with the 101st in Vietnam and how many are still kicking around .... we belong to a very small group of men. Let's keep checking in. All is well here in SD. Scoat the Scout, over and out.

The lead story on my Yahoo home page when I logged on this evening was that the 101st Airborne Division has received orders to deploy overseas. Of course, the information about which units have been activated were not yet available. Whatever your feelings about the growing likelihood of a war with Iraq, I know all of you join in Godspeed to the soldiers of the 101st. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Screaming Eagles.

You have a winner here, Screaming Eagles! Good job, keep it up. I will link this site to ours. Please do the same.

For those of you "Bastogne Bulldogs" who wants one of those stainless steel 8 ounces flask with your battalion crest, wings, CIB, CMB, or Air Assault on it, check it out in our PX on our 3-506th website: www.currahee.org. That goes for any of the other items that we offer and can put your unit/tour dates on. AIRBORNE! Jerry in MT

I was just informed about this site and I wanted to give an update on what D/2-327 was up to. I am the current company commander and have been in command since last April. We have the privelage of being the Divisions only TOW ITAS company (Improved Target Acquisition System) Basically we have the best eyes in Division right now, better than any of the Apaches. That makes me the Division commanders new best friend (A blessing and a curse!)We are currently preparing for the possible deployment of the unit. The men are motivated and well trained. We will live up to the proud history that you have made. NO SLACK!

In memory of Jeffery Donald Flournoy. I have never forgotten this soft spoken brown eyed tall young man. Whom I have always loved. I remember him at different times each year. And will never forget him. He had the softest lips and the sweetest embrace. He was a gentleman all the way. Very religious and respectful of my family and his. Just a true man. A great loss. I find it extremely hard to forget him. He would have been 56 this year. My beautiful brown eyes.

I would just like to say thank you to all the men and women that was with him back then. I was always so jealous on how he was saving the world for everyone else and not being with his daughter as I was growing up. God Bless!

Dave Cook contacted me regarding a memorial post I made awhile back. I am the former wife of Sgt. Jimmie Mincks' son, Karl and the mother of 3 of Jimmie's grandsons. I am working on a family history for my children and grandchildren and Jimmie's ancestry & heritage will be included. I am in contact with Jimmie's first wife and with Karl & his sister, Judy who is also working on the Mincks family tree. Would love any stories, memories, photos or just anything about Jimmie since I know so little. I also have no photos for his grandchildren and great grandchildren since his first wife didn't save any of those things much and what she did save was lost in moving, etc. This would go in the family history for his descendants--a treasure for generations to come. Thanks to all of you who gave so much. About all you have is our thanks and your sacrifice is and was appreciated.Anyone wishing to contact me, please do so. I would love to correspond with you. Again, anything on Jimmie would be so appreciated.

"No Slack". For all the past and present soldiers of the "No Slack" Battalion; As Christmas approches, the overwhelming feeling of a past not too long ago having served during Desert Sheild/Storm, urged me to search a feeling once felt. The feeling of being one of the strongest, most feared members of a proud and missed orginization will always follow me in thought. Two things quickly: (1) Merry Christmas to you, the family of the current No Slack family and Soldiers. (2) Is the American Flag that once hung on the wall in the Company area with our names on it, still there???? If not, which Soldier recieved it??? Take care, God Bless and most of all, "NO SLACK"

About 3 months ago I posted a message in this guestbook, expressing my gratitude to the veterans of the 327th and explaining my intentions, as a living historian (reenactor) to put together a living history display for the 327th in Vietnam. I've been contacted by some of the veterans of the 327th, from whom I have received so much support and assitance. I am forever thankful for your help. I am writing again to say that I am well on my way to completing the basic impression and to tell you about a new living history group that a friend and I have formed. It will be called the 101st Airborne Timeline Living History Society. We want to be able to set up a display that will showcase various units of the 101st from World War II, Vietnam and Desert Shield/Desert Storm (hence the name "timeline"). We have a web site that explains our mission and our goals for this group, the link is listed above.
I must say, that when I first wrote in this forum 3 months ago I did not know much about the Vietnam War. Many hours of reading books, researching the internet, and talking and emailing with Vietnam vets has done much to change that. And the more I learn about the war, the more respect and gratitude I feel towards you who served during that time. Thank you, you are not forgotten, and there are a growing number of living historian/reenactors who are doing their best to see you will be remembered with the gratitude and the respect that you deserve.

Even after contact, he was always making light of the whole senerio. I miss you guys, never ever saw anybody who could fill the void I had when I was shipped out. There were, good & bad. Sadness and elation. We ate out of the same can, shared water, back to back Bros. WE always gave each other a full 360 security scan. Was good to have had you as my comrades. Bless you and the next time I visit the "WALL" I'll stop in for a visit and chat. You are not forgotten. Bro. David Williamson C. 2/327th 101st.

Linda Patterson of America Supporting Americians sent me some photos of the 327th to put up on my Veteran Heroes wall. I'm the librarian at an elementary school. We also have a Heroes wall for those serving in the current conflict. My Air Force son is up there as are photos of sons and daughter,(1 so far), of other military moms I have been in contact with.
I was still in school when you guys went off to fight. I didn't understand much of what the war meant then until my music teacher left to fight. He died there from a sniper attack. I went to Washington D.C. to see his name on the Wall. I was and still am very proud to have known him. I am proud of you all, for your commitment to your country and to those of us who were back home. You deserve much honor. Our young people need to know of your great sacrifice and I am very proud to put your pictures up on my board. Thank you again.

I remember Ruben "Sweet Daddy Grace" from Fort Campbell, KY. I believe it was A co. 1st Bn. 501st. As I recall he was the comic release for the Co. My ETS. was July, 1965 just before the 327 departed.

Big Blow hits 327th reunion host. The recent tornado in Tennessee hit our C 1/327 bro' Ken Ihle's place w/a vengence. Ken and Angie were at church when it hit and, upon coming home, saw much of the work Ken had done on his home and our 327 reunion facility, blown away. Ken wants all to know that he and Angie are fine and are facing a big clean-up and re-building effort with typical Airborne resolve. Many of you were at Ken's place in Crossville last June for the annual "327 Cobra Rendevous." Abn! Dave C 1/327 '65-'66

I am LT Sexton and I am very impressed with your web site. I am an active army Engineer currently at Fort Leonardwood, MO. My father served with 2/327th Oct 70 to Oct 71. There is not much on the web site that covers this time. I understand that the majority of the fighting might not have been as bad as 66-69 but I know that there must have been something. My father was a member of Hawk Recon as a medic. He doesn't talk about it at all unless I ask, but even then it isn't much. I am looking for any information that I can get, so that I may better understand what mad my father such a great man.

LT Tony Sexton
12 years of military service and proud of it

Heartfelt thanks to all who shared your memory of 11/11/67 with me or through Frank "BullDog" Drummond. I think I at least I understand what happened to Bobby Groom on that day, 35 years ago. Another friend who is a Vietnam vet took all of the recollections, put the pieces together and drew it out for me so I could visualize it. If anyone else knew Bob Groom, C2/327th (in country from June to November 1967), please, please contact me. I honestly believe that in our remembrance of him, he stays alive in our hearts. He was such a special man and I have missed him every single day of my life without him. Many, many thanks to you -- his brothers.

Hi Yankee Jim. I met you in the Dothan Outback Steakhouse a couple of months of ago. We talked about Outback Steakhouse and what the company does for the military. You asked me to sign the guest book and check out your website. You have a great website. It really does tell a story. It is very insightful in what went on during the Vietnam War. Thanks for the knowledge and letting me tour this web site. Hope to see you soon in the Dothan Outback.
