I was in Delta from Jan 1970 to Feb of ’71. I was an ammo carrier, then squad RTO, platoon RTO, company RTO and last couple of months a battalion RTO.
I was from Moline Il and spent most of my time in the jungle. I truly do not remember spending an excess amount of time on fire bases. I remember them as being our rear area. Then Eagle as a real rear area, though we seldom saw it.
I remember Eagle Island for one battalion standdown.
