I returned from Viet Nam in July 1966 and was then assigned to the 82nd at Ft. Bragg. After the Army, I got out in 1967, I went to college, Western Illinois University and got a degree in political science and Asian area studies. Since 1971 I’ve been in the Newspaper business. I’ve covered sports, been a sports editor, city editor, managing editor and executive editor and a columnist first sports and then general. Right now I’m working on the copy desk. I have two wonderful daughters, ages 37 and 31, and three terrific grandkids with another grandson on the way in Sept. My grandkids are Jacob, 10, Emma, 7, and Sara, 2.
