Bob Hageman, Please submit your memories of 882/714 to website or email me data and I will put it into story. I was on Veghel watching you get chewed up before my company replaced you guys. I went to Kit Carson School with Bob Wilson -Recon 2nd 502 then to his wedding in Woodstock, Illinois after our return. Would be proud to know a survivor of that blood bath. Erick Miller

I enjoyed the account of Hill 882 and reference to Hill 714. I was a squad leader in Recon 2-502. We cut the first LZ on the top of 882 after rapelling onto the top of the hill. We lost a lot of good people during those engagements.

Fellow Cold Steel Cobras,
Wasn't that the worst tiger piss that we drank at the monastery in Oct. 65? Where did the Sarge get it? I should have given up drinking then, maybe the sarge was sending me a message. Thanks, Pat

On behalf of my squad-mate Loren Storey, who lives about 10 miles from me, I'd like to tell anyone who reads this that our squad leader Jon was a great guy, and that he lives on in our memories. Hello all,
I was just informed about this site and I wanted to give an update on what D/2-327 was up to. I am the current company commander and have been in command since last April. We have the privelage of being the Divisions only TOW ITAS company (Improved Target Acquisition System) Basically we have the best eyes in Division right now, better than any of the Apaches. That makes me the Division commanders new best friend (A blessing and a curse!)We are currently preparing for the possible deployment of the unit. The men are motivated and well trained. We will live up to the proud history that you have made. NO SLACK!

In memory of Jeffery Donald Flournoy. I have never forgotten this soft spoken brown eyed tall young man. Whom I have always loved. I remember him at different times each year. And will never forget him. He had the softest lips and the sweetest embrace. He was a gentleman all the way. Very religious and respectful of my family and his. Just a true man. A great loss. I find it extremely hard to forget him. He would have been 56 this year. My beautiful brown eyes.

My dad, Lt. Walter E. Eddy Jr., passed away 2 days after Thanksgiving in 2002. I would hear stories about his days in the war with his fellow soldiers. I would just like to say thank you to all the men and women that was with him back then. I was always so jealous on how he was saving the world for everyone else and not being with his daughter as I was growing up. God Bless!

Dave Cook contacted me regarding a memorial post I made awhile back. I am the former wife of Sgt. Jimmie Mincks' son, Karl and the mother of 3 of Jimmie's grandsons. I am working on a family history for my children and grandchildren and Jimmie's ancestry & heritage will be included. I am in contact with Jimmie's first wife and with Karl & his sister, Judy who is also working on the Mincks family tree. Would love any stories, memories, photos or just anything about Jimmie since I know so little. I also have no photos for his grandchildren and great grandchildren since his first wife didn't save any of those things much and what she did save was lost in moving, etc. This would go in the family history for his descendants--a treasure for generations to come. Thanks to all of you who gave so much. About all you have is our thanks and your sacrifice is and was appreciated.Anyone wishing to contact me, please do so. I would love to correspond with you. Again, anything on Jimmie would be so appreciated.

I was with C co in 68 and 69. Have looked for friends but the names I remember were Lucky and CID and Mamma Cruz. The only real name I remember was Lt. Ron Beckman. I carried the radio for him. Went back to Vietnam in 97. Stayed in Hue and tried to get into the Ashua but a bridge was out.

"No Slack". For all the past and present soldiers of the "No Slack" Battalion; As Christmas approches, the overwhelming feeling of a past not too long ago having served during Desert Sheild/Storm, urged me to search a feeling once felt. The feeling of being one of the strongest, most feared members of a proud and missed orginization will always follow me in thought. Two things quickly: (1) Merry Christmas to you, the family of the current No Slack family and Soldiers. (2) Is the American Flag that once hung on the wall in the Company area with our names on it, still there???? If not, which Soldier recieved it??? Take care, God Bless and most of all, "NO SLACK"

About 3 months ago I posted a message in this guestbook, expressing my gratitude to the veterans of the 327th and explaining my intentions, as a living historian (reenactor) to put together a living history display for the 327th in Vietnam. I've been contacted by some of the veterans of the 327th, from whom I have received so much support and assitance. I am forever thankful for your help. I am writing again to say that I am well on my way to completing the basic impression and to tell you about a new living history group that a friend and I have formed. It will be called the 101st Airborne Timeline Living History Society. We want to be able to set up a display that will showcase various units of the 101st from World War II, Vietnam and Desert Shield/Desert Storm (hence the name "timeline"). We have a web site that explains our mission and our goals for this group, the link is listed above.
I must say, that when I first wrote in this forum 3 months ago I did not know much about the Vietnam War. Many hours of reading books, researching the internet, and talking and emailing with Vietnam vets has done much to change that. And the more I learn about the war, the more respect and gratitude I feel towards you who served during that time. Thank you, you are not forgotten, and there are a growing number of living historian/reenactors who are doing their best to see you will be remembered with the gratitude and the respect that you deserve.

I know not all served willingly, but all who served proudly and honorably are to be honored... I believe that those who shirked there duties and ghosted their way through the war are a discgrace and a blemish on the face of Uncle Sam... Thank you...

Brothers All, I am one of you and it seems none of you knew or served with me. The men(boys)I served with were by far the very best God could have surrounded me with. Heart felt howdys to "Cotton" from Tennessee, "Bro Reese"(saved my behind twice)from New York, "Mic" from Orange County Calif. Mic,what a clown. Even after contact, he was always making light of the whole senerio. I miss you guys, never ever saw anybody who could fill the void I had when I was shipped out. There were, good & bad. Sadness and elation. We ate out of the same can, shared water, back to back Bros. WE always gave each other a full 360 security scan. Was good to have had you as my comrades. Bless you and the next time I visit the "WALL" I'll stop in for a visit and chat. You are not forgotten. Bro. David Williamson C. 2/327th 101st.

Linda Patterson of America Supporting Americians sent me some photos of the 327th to put up on my Veteran Heroes wall. I'm the librarian at an elementary school. We also have a Heroes wall for those serving in the current conflict. My Air Force son is up there as are photos of sons and daughter,(1 so far), of other military moms I have been in contact with.
I was still in school when you guys went off to fight. I didn't understand much of what the war meant then until my music teacher left to fight. He died there from a sniper attack. I went to Washington D.C. to see his name on the Wall. I was and still am very proud to have known him. I am proud of you all, for your commitment to your country and to those of us who were back home. You deserve much honor. Our young people need to know of your great sacrifice and I am very proud to put your pictures up on my board. Thank you again.

Big Blow hits 327th reunion host. The recent tornado in Tennessee hit our C 1/327 bro' Ken Ihle's place w/a vengence. Ken and Angie were at church when it hit and, upon coming home, saw much of the work Ken had done on his home and our 327 reunion facility, blown away. Ken wants all to know that he and Angie are fine and are facing a big clean-up and re-building effort with typical Airborne resolve. Many of you were at Ken's place in Crossville last June for the annual "327 Cobra Rendevous." Abn! Dave C 1/327 '65-'66

I am LT Sexton and I am very impressed with your web site. I am an active army Engineer currently at Fort Leonardwood, MO. My father served with 2/327th Oct 70 to Oct 71. There is not much on the web site that covers this time. I understand that the majority of the fighting might not have been as bad as 66-69 but I know that there must have been something. My father was a member of Hawk Recon as a medic. He doesn't talk about it at all unless I ask, but even then it isn't much. I am looking for any information that I can get, so that I may better understand what mad my father such a great man.

Heartfelt thanks to all who shared your memory of 11/11/67 with me or through Frank "BullDog" Drummond. I think I at least I understand what happened to Bobby Groom on that day, 35 years ago. Another friend who is a Vietnam vet took all of the recollections, put the pieces together and drew it out for me so I could visualize it. If anyone else knew Bob Groom, C2/327th (in country from June to November 1967), please, please contact me. I honestly believe that in our remembrance of him, he stays alive in our hearts. He was such a special man and I have missed him every single day of my life without him. Many, many thanks to you -- his brothers.

For years I didn't mention I was a Vietnam Veteran.(scared of the bullsh*t that seemed to permeate the society) Then one day right out of the blue I became the proudest member of the NO SLACK 2nd Battalion 327th Infantry 101st Airborne. What I saw in Vietnam from my comrades made me proud. Fearless and selflessness, compassion to each other, The reaching out to a Brother in trouble, putting ones life in grave danger simply because it had to be done. NO concern about self if the squad was in trouble. Hell men I could go on for ever and ever. Did two tours, made and lost some great Brothers. This is without question, the best web site in existance. I stand tall, not for who I am or what I did, but rather for the regiment I served in. Couger company 1st Platoon 2/327th. There were no better men then and none better today. I salute all brothers and pay silent tearful respect to the FALLEN BROTHERS. If it can be known, there are more than our share of KIA's are on the "WALL" GOD bless our nation and GOD bless the 327th

I haven't talked much about his time served, but he wears his baseball cap very proudly. I recently sewed a "ranger" patch on it for him. He is in a wheelchair and has the use of only one hand/arm. His mind is clear and alert. Please email me with "Screaming Eagles" in the subject line. I can print out any message you have for him and take it over on Wed or Fri when I volunteer. BTW, both my parents served in WWII. Thank you to all who served our country. Nancy

I was with Aco (ABU) 1/327 from 87-88. It was my first unit after jump school and a great experience. That first year with the Bulldogs was a good place to build a solid foundation for my next 6+ years in the Infantry.

Airborne, all the way!

I was with 1/327 Delta Company, 71-to somewhere around Jan. or Feb. 72. Then Unit stood down. Sent to 501 or 502, not sure. Some time around late March or early Aprill, DMZ moved down to dam near Phu Bai. Would be interested in hearing from any 1/327 type of guys! ABOVE THE REST "Us And People Like Us", Saw Doc Ainsworth words on "Stolen Valor". I dint serve with doc mike, but we live in the same town. Went to his house the other day, and we talked about the book, which i have not read, and the vva. I have benifited {sp} from a Vet Center in Concord, Ca. Yet, like the many Eagles who have talked about the vva, I would never be a member of a org. with that name.

have had recent contact with my company commander,as well as my platoon leader. lt. and i,along six or so troops had borded shithook. then lt. bob landensack, spoke with my lt. we,were then told to get off and let lt. landensack, and his people board. we then learned after some period of time, that the shithook crashed, killing all aboard. in years past i have posted on the " WALL", guest book, the date of the crash and was wanting to speak, with any other ABOVE THE REST,troops, or, more important any relavtives that might have wanted information about that day. some time ago, i was e-mailed this question 'did this helicoptor crashed because of weather. i replied yes, and i asked who was asking this. i never heard back. if anyone out there knows why this question was put to me please reply or any other comments are welcome. there are no words to describe my feelings,of the troops that gave their lives. or of my beloved 327th. or, the pride felt in the serving in the 101. welcome home to all, a brother-in-arms. james watson

As a combat vet who has borne the brunt of our nations actions in Vietnam, bearing freedoms sword, and felt the embarrassment and scorn heaped upon the warriors from that conflict, I salute you Skytroopers, for helping to return honor to that service. I am heartened to see the outpouring of patriotic spirit here! I invite those who pass here to visit my "Vietnam Picture Tour, from the lens and poet’s pen of a combat infantryman, from one who's walked the walk, and can talk the talk...Take a walk in "the park" with the 1st Air Cavalry on combat patrol, that in reality will give you the sweet and sour taste of
"the Nam" on your tongue, leave the pungent smell of "the Nam" acrid in your nostrils, and imbed textures of "the Nam" in your brain as though you walked beside me in combat. Though we were in different units, we trod the same sod, and flew in the same skys. The 101st took over LZ Betty from the Cav, shortly after my premature exit when I was WIA, and we were on several missions together

Today had a touch of nostalgia in it... T'was 33 years ago today, Sept 20, 1969 1000 hrs at Mcguire AFB (@ Ft Dix NJ) that my plane took off for Nam. We went up to Alaska stopping in Anchorage for an hour or two and then on to Yakoda Japan and then TanSonNhut. Flew over Mount McKinley in Alaska and it was magnificent shooting up through the clouds!!! I'll never forget it!
