On or about 16 April 68, eight members of the 585th TC (tractor-trailer company out of Gia Le), delivered 175mm barrels, pro-jo's, and black powder to Bastogne. We had to remain in FBB for a week leaving on or about 21 April. It was an interesting experience including the convoy in and out. Thanks to you 101st AB guys for your hospitality during that time.

Rest in Peace brother:

(CNN) -- William Guarnere, a World War II veteran popularized by the "Band of Brothers" miniseries, has died. He was 90.

Guarnere was rushed to a hospital early Saturday morning and died of a ruptured aneurism that night, his son, William Guarnere Jr., told CNN.

"He lived a good life. He traveled a lot. He pretty much did everything he could have done," the son said Sunday.

During the war, Guarnere earned the nickname "Wild Bill." He lost a leg trying to save a friend on the battlefield.

The HBO miniseries was based on a book by Stephen E. Ambrose.

It told the story of Easy Company, 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, U.S. Army. Guarnere was played by actor Frank John Hughes.

The family is planning a funeral this week in Philadelphia, where Guarnere was born and lived most of his life, his son said.

My father was an FO with HHC battery, 5th Bn, 27th FA assigned to A Co, 1/327th. Leanard "Pat" Patterson is his name and he was a Staff Sergeant during his time in Vietnam in 1967. I'd love to be able to track down any photos of him, in particular, he tells a story of a news reporter embedded with them that actually has video of him. It wasn't until after he'd returned home to Ft. Knox that he actually saw this video on the news while eating dinner with mom. Love to get my hands on that. Thank you for any help you can provided!

He was with COBRA co. of the 327th he arrived in country Oct 6th 1968 was KIA Nov 28th 1968 (Thanksgiving Day) in the Thua Thien Providence, at the age of 22. I would like to find out what platoon he was in of Co. C would also like to find out what base he was at, I believe he was out of Camp Eagle but not sure. I'm hoping someone out there may remember him and have photos with him in it. I would love to be able to give his mother and my father pictures of Jim. I know this is a long shot since he was in country such a short time but would appreciate any help from you Screaming Eagles out there.

Dear friends
Thank you for the responses so far. It turns out that John Imrie did get the Silver and Bronze Stars so no further action is necessary on that. His other friends are glad, as am I. It was the bravest thing I saw in the war, the greatest act of self sacrifice. It deserved notice and respect and I am glad our suppositions were wrong. Although I was a direct eyewitness, I was never asked about it. I'm glad to see something was done.
Thanks again
ABU

I was in 2d platoon A Co/1st Bn/327th from April to October. Started out as a rifleman ended up as the Platoon RTO, then I joined E Co/20th INF (LRP) (later renamed to C Co Ranger Reg) where I was on LRP team 46.
I saw John Imrie get hit running out to save a wounded man. This was in Chu LAi August 18th, 1967.
I understand he received no medal at all for this. This is an injustice I want to see resolved. I and some others of his friends are interested in getting a medal for him, perhaps a Silver Star.
I would appreciate help from this organization in helping me do it. Anybody interested in pursuing this please contact me at jamesgworth@gmail.com

Greetings to all. Just found this site and wanted to correct some information about my brother who served with A 1/327 in '68. Whereas I found the roster listing that is obviously him, he was listed as Jack L. "Spices" instead of Spicer. His hometown was also mistakenly entered as Princeton, IL. It was actually Princeton, IN. The ZIP code and phone number were, however correct. Whoever is in charge of this site, please correct this minor oversight so that others may find his information. It is my sad duty to report that my brother succumbed to cancer on 16 Mar '91. He served proudly as a Police Officer in Southern Indiana for many years before he became ill. If anyone at all remembers my brother, has anecdotes or even photos, I and my family would deeply appreciate it. If it is of any help, one of his best friends was KIA in 'Nam, and his name was John C. Imrie. Sorry to write a book here, but any help would be deeply appreciated. Thank You. jeffreymspicer@yahoo.com. Again, many thanks.
