Update from the field
Hello Family and Friends,
Just a little update email to let you all know how things are going. First, just in case you are wondering, everyday in Iraq is like ground hog day…..it just keeps happening….:). The BDE is doing great and wonderful things here for the people of Iraq and I finally feel like I am part of it. All these months that Pete has been out walking the streets and making a difference, I am now doing the same. I go out a couple of days a week and walk the streets of Tikrit with the boys. I have had the opportunity to see how they live and realize this country has changed a lot but there is still allot to be done. They have city provided power for about 4 hours a day and then they can use a generator. Most of the poor neighborhoods are not lucky enough to be able to afford on as the small ones cost about $150,000 dinar (SP?) which is about $7500 American. Fuel for a month is still another $5000 dinar a month and with the heat they go through allot if they have a/c. I have gotten to spend some time at a local school and be with the kids giving them school supplies which they are excited to receive. Their government has allot of work to do to get the school where they should be.
Enough about all of that, Pete and I got to spend some time together in May and it was awesome to be able to just be together. We are excited to get back home and really start our life. The first big plan is to buy our home and get settled.
I hope all is well with you. Know that we are thinking about all of you and are eager to return home. Take care and remember to save some gas for us to use when we get back.
Our best to you all. The photo attached is from my visit to a school yesterday. Me with my new friends…J.
Lots of love,
Tiffany
