May God bless and wrap his arms around Don Bowers. Don has joined our fellow troopers who have already crossed the river on their final rendezvous with destiny. We will miss Don. Our prayers are with Cheryl and the family.

I wasn't with you. I wasn't with anyone in Nam. I took deferments. I sat my ass in my mobile home, raising kids, living. My dad, career army said don't do it , he did enuf for the whole family. I have the deepest regrets that I cant' be called one of you. Or one like you. Today, 2007, I feel guilt for not volunteering to pay the price with you all. This life almost gone, maybe next one, I join your brotherhood of warriors, of true Americans.

Third Platoon, Third Squad from April 1970 through the end of that year. Started with 14 guys and within one month we were down to four - Roy, Cal and Papa. The operation on 882 and 714 was too intense. Sammy Gullart was killed that May. Walked point mostly because I was the cherry buck sergeant, along with Jenson and Unruh. Spent Christmas in Sydney, Got back to the rear and Top sent me to LBJ with a very doped out prisoner. Hated Bastogne during the monsoon so Top kicked me back out in the woods as a supply sergeant. Captain Mills, and Captain Turner were great. Didn''t get much opportunity to know the new CO but he seemed too gung ho for the 1971 version of the war. Ron Curtis was killed in February 1971 when his frag went off accidently. That ended the war for me, Jensen and Sullivan. Got home and could not adjust to the noise, smell and speed of the world. Now I have a small farm and some sense of peace. Malowicz had less peace than me but I think he's okay now. Met his wife and kids on Long Island but I can't find him now. That sucks.

I am looking for any information on Joe Foster who served during WW2. I believe I am his daughter. As I am now 62 years old,he is probably deceased but I would just like to know more about him. All that I know is that his was nicknamed "Slim". He was about 5ft 10ins tall and had a gap in his front teeth. He was obviously a good man, who sent money for me until I was fifteen. I just want to know more about him.

I found one who I think was one of my men in 2nd Plt. Bravo Co. Dale Grabb. I will be e-mailing him.

Anyone else from 2nd plt, 2nd sqd. bravo co in vietnam 68-69, please let me hear from you. I was a corporal when I arrived to the unit, so I got tagged with the name of "CORP". Buz remembered.

my name is José G. Ramos, I am the Vietnam Veteran who began the campaign in 2000 to have a national day of recognition for the Vietnam Veterans, then in 2004, I rode my bicycle from Whittier, CA to Washington DC to ask Congress and the Senate for thier support. Congresswoman Linda T. Sanchez of Norwalk, CA and Senator Boxer also from CA. both introduced their own personal bill to each of the Houses. these bills ask the President, to designate March 30 of every year as the official "Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day." now congress has unanimously passed H.Res. 189 and are now preparing to send the bill to the President's desk for signing. what we have done in anticipation of that bill being sent to the president, is we have printed up 5,000 postcards which we are now having signed by everyone we know and any stranger in the street who cares. the last time we did a postcard campaign in 2004, we delivered over 10,000 postcards to DC on our bicycles. when congress is ready to send their bill/letter to the President, we will then send as many postcards as we have had signed up to then to the President's office in support of the Congressional letters. i just wanted to give you an update, because, now that congress has taken the matter to the President, I feel it will not be long now before he signs our bill. which will make March 30, 2008 the first official welcome home day. but what i would like to ask from you is that you help me out with my write in campaign to the president. I have the postcards all printed up, all they need is a signature and a 26 cent stamp. I will be glad to send anyone as many postcards as they think they might need or be able to have their friends and family sign. This campaign is going to become a reality. but now is when I need the help of all of America. it is time to fix the old wrong and together we can do it. I sure hope ya'll can help me out with this by posting it on your web site. God bless you my friends and may God bless. YOU CAN CONTACT ME AT WHVVD@AOL.COM

My recruiting sgt the late SSG Stuart Albert Gerlisky was at HHC Company before going into recruiting.

We had the same battalion commander LTC Ohle.

SSG Gerlisky was there from 1981 - 1983 and I was there from 1984 - 1986.

I just found out that 3rd Battalion / 327th Infantry known as "Battleforce" was retired in August 2005.

What a shock !!! !

man where does one start was assigned just before the push in the ash shaw valley before the tec assigned as a asst m-60 gunner became the gunner in the first fire fight became a medic in the middle of the second then a trip to the hospital in japan back in time for a trip to eagle nest back to the hospital and so on spend most of my life trying understand why I came home at all. There is a part of me that never did make it home and again too much of what I did to others did-guess peace will come in the end. For all those who came back from the front lines and made something out of the rest of their lives god bless-for those still trying to fine the high ground god bless-for those sill trying to make it I and others are and will always be there for you just make yourself known-became a drill instructor at fort dix then a gareer couselor-now just a vet-looking for the sun rise and set each day. always wanting to know is any war worth the pain - peace to ya

Some months ago i decided to adopt a grave of an American soldier buried in the Margraten Cemetery in Holland. I have always felt deep respect for those heroes who gave their lives for my freedom.

Hello Brothers of the 327. I was with Alpha Co. 1/327 vietnam 1970-71. I am trying to get the word out about the just released book, An Enormous Crime. This is a must read for every service person and their family's.
It chronicles the attempt to bring our POW's home from Vietnam that were left behind in 1973. This is not a book of heresay. It is archival, declassified documents that show how each presidential administration has either covered up or just ignored the fact that there were approx. 700 live americans that were left. Whether they are alive or dead now it doesn't matter but we as a nation and especially as veterans owe it to our brothers that gave their all in vietnam to raise OUR voice as we did March 2007 in Washington DC for the Gathering of the Eagle and make it known that WE want our brothers home to their family's.
Get the book. Read the book. Pass it on to the next brother or your family member. Then write your congressman, Senator, and especially the President and demand for action. It has gone on long enough.
Thanks.
Mil "Bigdog" Thornton

While watching the motocycle parade at DC this Memorial Day weekend, I started a converstion with the guy standing next to me who was also a Vietnam Veteran. I asked him who he was with and he stated he was with the 327th. About blew my socks off. His name is Lloyd Williams and he was with C Co. 2nd/327th from Sept '68 to Sept '69. I asked him if he has been to the 327th web-site and he said he isn't to computer literate. Any way he wanted to let anyone who knew him that he is still alive and well, living in Hunstville, Alabama.

Hello. I`m looking for anyone that would have any information on PFC Billy Edward Stevenson, from Lebanon, Tenn. RA14900028. His unit was, C Company 2nd 327, 101st AB.
Billy fought and died at the battle of Trung Loung in Viet-Nam, June 1966. The battle dates were June 19th - 22nd 1966. On June 22nd Billy was wounded and then died of his wounds.
I`m working on restoring his grave, which has been neglected over the years, and doing several other things so he is not fogotten by the people of Lebanon, Tn. and of this Great Nation.
I so desperately, desire to talk to anyone who knew Billy. Please write, call or e-mail me!

My nickname was "blondie",but I wasn't really a blond. (long story) I'm lookin for "Whitey", now he really was a white blond and came out of Florida. I was from Illinois at that time.

Bastogne Bulldogs,
What a great website! I enjoyed visitng, reading the GuestbookBastogne, and understanding the history of this great unit, just a little bit more. My father (Tech 5 Max Lawerence Conant) served with HQ Co, 3rd Bn, 327 Glider Infantry during WWII. He has since passed away and it is through this site I can understand his combat history.

May God keep you all safe and bless you for your Service to this country during a time of war once again.

Today ,39 years ago on Firebase Veghel That we had taken the evening before we lost friends in an ambush. The Engineers had cleared a LZ and secured it. On the way to LZ NVA ambushed the patrol bringing the wounded down the hill. Can!t remimber how many additional wounded or killed. Do know 4 Engineers and 3 infantry were trapped between Company and LZ . I was Sgt of engineers and am thankful for those who sacrificed their lives so that I could live . I would have sacrificed my life for them at any time.Memories of all who lost their lives are with me daily. I served with C Company 14 months from April 67 to May of 68.

I'm not a vietnam combat veteran, But I am a veitnam era veteran, I served with the U.S.ARMY from September 1972 to March 1979 and E.T.S'd with the rank of Sgt E-5. I was stationed In Homestead Fla During The "Tricky Dicky" term of office. From there I spent three years in Wharton Barracks Germany, Where I re-upped. My last tour was in Fort Lewis Wa, Like I said where I e.t.s'd.
I have had the HONOR of working with some of the finest men I've ever known. Most of which were Combat veterans. David Markham is one of those individuals! And I can honestly say that I'm a better person for having known and worked with David.
This web site is just one of a series of tributes that A lot of people don't understand. God bless America and All of those who served!

I am searching for any information I can possibly find on my brother Ray A Archuletta KIA Sept 7,1967. His rank during both tours was that of a SSG E-6. I do know that he was in B Company 2/502 Infantry at the time of his death. What I am trying to find out is he had a first tour in Vietnam and was medivacd back to the US in 1966.I have no clue as to the Company he was in from Dec 25, 1965 to March 26,1966. On this date he took a round through the jaws he partially recovered from that wound and returned to Vietnam Mar 1967. During the time he was at Fitsimmions Army Medical center he spoke of a fire fight on Feb 7, 1966. This was the firefight that LT James Gardner was awarded the Medal of Honor. Also of other dead soldier's named Alexander Montoya and David Garcia from Pueblo Colorado. After being wounded he was assigned to the 506 Infantry at Fort Campbell, KY. Before going to Vietnam the first time he was assigned to the 8 th Airborne in Germany until late 1965. If any one can provide me with more information I would Appreciate whatever information I might receive.
Thank you,
Rays brother
Louis Archuletta

Checking in again. Served July/67 to July/68. As an FNG I was transported on an open duece and a half from Cam Rhan Bay to the base camp at Phu Bai. On the truck were two grubby boonie rats who reminded us newbees that we had more time than the Pope left in Nam. Humped an M-79 and a LAW.

First, I want to say thank you to all that work so diligently on this web-site. This web-site is a real blessing! And I want to encourage all you guys to write a story, a poem, or post pic's. We all have experiences and this is a great place to share them. It can be very cathartic, it has been for me.
God bless.

Hi Folks: In 1956 I Company 187th was redesignated A Company 327th. We did not want to lose our Ibu so we dropped the I and added an A.
Thus Abu 327th was born. Over the years I have met other Ibus/Abus and find their spirit is the same as it was in 1956.
I missed the fun in Vietnam due to injuries received in other skirmishes. Often wondered if there are many around who were present during the change over. Bob Rogers

Just found this site and browsing. Anyone recognize the trooper on the home page that is wearing the jungle hat, visible 101 patch, etc. Seems to be wearing infantry patch on the collar. Looks a lot like me when I was a bit younger, thinner, etc. but have no idea when such a picture could have been taken. Still, nice to have a name to all those individuals on the page. Bill

Sat March 17th was a great day for all of us! The
VN Vets vastly outnumbered the dazed and con-
fused freaks on the anti-American side. The level
of hate for the USA by some people has to be seen
to be believed. You can't reason with them, they have to be shouted down to the point they crawl back under their rock! I saw everything but the bearded lady on their side! It was great hanging out
with Dale, John, Phil, Mark, the Martins, Dewey,
Claude, and Ed. It was a day I'll remember for the
rest of my life!

Can anyone help document the following date ?. I was visting MCB# 8 next door and at dusk the first 122mm attack hit the "big gun" on the hill. And then they were walked through the EM club below and the Seabee Camp. Adding me and a unremembered friend to the list of wounded. We were rocketed again the next morning. My best guess is March 27th 1968. I need some help this PTSD is a bitch. Thanks Dave in Spokane

I am wondering if anyone else in having problems with the VA about benefits. They seem to want to cut mine after 30 years of giving me compensation for wounds received. What's up with this B.S.???
I do have the DAV on my side but it is a sad time when the combat veteran is thrown away after they are no longer useful.
I worry about the young soldiers, especially the Tiger Force 1/327th, coming home to the less than good health care. If we were all working for ABC evening news as Woodward was the medical care would be first rate. Especially the follow up therapy. Which many of the Vietnam vets did not get.
I would like to know what others think on this subject.
Will there be a Tiger Force Reunion this year 2007?

Looking for any info about my father Dennis Lee Laird (from Seattle, WA) or any people that might have served with him. He was with the 101st Airborne (I believe 1/327 HHC), was an RTO, and had a rank of SPC4. He landed at Cam Ranh bay in July of 1965 and I know he was in An Khe in Oct. 65. I suspect he was part of the conflict at La Drang valley.

He did basic at Ford Ord, CA in 1964 and was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY before going to Vietnam.

I know he hated the M16 and traded it in for a sawed off shotgun.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to know him well, but I know his experiences in Vietnam affected him terribly.

Any stories, good or bad, or any info no matter how small would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Today I got a phone call to help out someone down the road because his father passed away two days ago. Since I am the only one in the area that has been or is in the military they called me to help piece together his uniform for burial. Long story short, this man who I wish I knew did three tours in Vietnam and was wounded three times. I have been putting together his ribbons but felt I should try to tell someone else.( maybe get a hold of someone who knew him) I thought if I could say something at his funeral about his military time that would be great! Anyway his name is George G. Blackmar. I know he ended his time a SGT. I also know his was in the 101st, Aco 2nd Bn 327th, I know he was in in 67 (don't know what tour) looks like unit crest honor and country. If you can help me and his family I would appreciate it.

Would like to know any information about an SFC that was on the operation to the FB Fury AO in April 1971 with 1-327. He'd been wounded on a previous tour with 1 ID and his hand still bore the consequence. He was a drill with C-3-3 at Ft. Leonard Wood in 1969, where I met him. I am always amazed at the number of troopers that sign the guest book with how much they enjoyed their time in the 101st and especially 327th Regiment. These troopers should join the 101st Airborne Division Association. This organization was established at the end of WWII to perpetuate the brotherhood of the Screaming Eagles, no matter when you served,
My background with the division, I returned from Japan with the 508th RCT in July 1956 to help form the 101st into an Airborne Division. I was assigned to E Co 506th ABG also served with HHC 327th ABG and the C&C; Bn. I later served as a Plt Ld with B Co 2/327th and then commanded C Co 2/327th 67/68. I am currently the Chairman of the Board of the 101st Association. I am with the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter. If you are truly interested in the 101st please contact our Secretary/Treasurer Sam Bass to get information on how to join and find out about all of the good things that the Association is doing for our soldiers and their families at the following address: 2703 Michigan Ave/PO Box 929 Ft Campbell, KY (270) 439-0445. I am the governor of the 502nd Regiment or the O'Deuce as we use to be called back in Vietnam. I will be taking an active part in the Gathering of Eagles on March 17th in Washington DC at the Vietnam Memorial and the surrounding Hallowed ground helping to protect our other sacred Monuments as well from the anti-military, anti-American Cindy Sheehan, Jane Fonda ilk who will be attempting to use our sacred Vietnam Memorial as their back drop in their propaganda ploy and demonstration against our troops fighting in Iraq and SW Asia. I am trying to find as many Screaming Eagles as possible who will be there in Washington on the 17th as well as to look for the Black 101st Screaming Eagle Flag and to rally to me and each other so we can stand together as a Band of Brothers against this horde of un-American protesters. I am trying to get a head count of some kind and I can be reached at my email address or on the Gathering of Eagles website at the North Carolina link or comments page. Sapper Bob knows how to reach me as well on his 101st Screaming Eagles ~ 326th web site. Honor and Duty, Charlie Gant . Liasion Alpha & Delta Company's 2/502nd Strike Force Widow Makers

Congratulations YJ on your safe move. I hope the sale of your home in Fla is swift and brings you great profit. It is a little cooler in Tennessee, but you'll be closer to friends and dryer most of the time.
I hope my friend Don Matthews is allowed to join us at the site with his own page. My lengthy and frequent email correspondances with him convince me that he is one of us despite his unit designation. He slept among the same trees and in the same rain. His military contributions cost the NVA dearly and saved a lot of 327th lives.
Hi Gary Berry, glad to see you in the guestbook. Thanks for sharing the new site you located. Stay in touch Platoon Mate.

I was a voice intercept operator with the 265th Radio Research Company. I was attached to platoons from both battalions at various times in 1971. I was with a company of 1-327 on the CA to the FB Fury AO on 14 April '71. I was with a platoon from D/1-327 in late August/early September on the Dong A Tay (Bloody Ridge) complex. During this op, I found a battalion from the NVA 6th Regiment that was subsequently made combat ineffective with tacair and an Arclight. I'm most proud of my time supporting the 327th.

After getting out of the military immediately after returning home from Vietnam (1970), I had no connections with the military. At least not until the last several years. I have worked in Qatar, Kuwait, and presently at Camp Liberty, just west of Baghdad. I travel with MPs to police stations to advise, train, and equip Iraqi Police. I had been a police officer in the States. Anyway, I really enjoy working with the guys, and yes, the gals of todays Army. Met several of the 101st passing through when I was at Camp Doha, Kuwait, before the war. That was great! I just found this site and am really happy and excited about it. I will be contacting several guys I located here. And if you know me from Vietnam, please write. And if anyone else wants to write, please do.

I went to jump school at Ft Campbell in Jan 59. Was with Co E 327th Infantry Airborne Battle Group. Was there from 59 to 61. Was a fixed wing aviator in Nam from 68-69. Provided support for the 101st near Dong Tam in Jul 68. The unit was in contact and once they broke contact they were being sniped at and being a newby felt helpless. I was flying with wheels on the deck trying to flush the sniper. I did finally sending a squad in to get him. AIRBORNE - ALL THE WAY. I guess we never forget. Call sign Nonstop 38 (Indian)

I was just looking for anyone who served with my father, Peter F. Malae. His unit, from the best of my knowledge was HHC/HQ 2/327 "Hawk Recon 1-1". He had a good friend who was a Sgt. Rick Vaughan and they had the same tattoo on their backs of a huge "jump wing" that had the words, "101st Airborne-Death Is Sweet" in the middle. Also, I remember him mentioning a John "Paladin" McKnight?? He also had an AG with the last named Bridges, they called him "pretty boy" because he used to put Noxema on his face while they were in the bush! The team used to chew him out, because they didn't want the gooks to smell that crap on his face! Those were the interesting stories I remember from my dad. Any information would help, especially anyone who might of served with that team from '66 to '67 because after '67 he transfered out of the unit to a combat tracker team with the 173rd, thanks.

I served with the Tiger Force from May 1966 through July 1967. The last operation I was on was in Song Ve Valley. I have just finished reading the book Tiger Force. There is a lot written that is only collaborated by a few of those in attendance. I have no doubt that some of it is factual but I remember a few of the incidents described in the book, and my minds eye sees them through a different portal than what was written. Suffice to say that all occurred a long time ago, in a different life and time. I am proud of my service. I am extremely proud that I was and remain a member of the Tiger Force. One of the main reasons I am able to write this message was because of the consumate professionalism and no nonsense approach taken by the members of the Tigers. I was privledged to serve with them. To all my Brother Tigers who came before or after me and are reading this message - Welcome Home, and Thank You for a job well done. In the jungle the Tiger walks in silence!

PFC-E3 RUSSELL THOMAS FORD, KIA- May 2,1967,
101st Airborne, C Company-1/327, 2nd platoon
Killed on May 12,1967 near Duc Pho in Quang Ngai province ---My brother "Russ-Rusty"
This is a proud thanks to all who served with him, and all that served bravely in this "never to be forgotten war." My son, a history teacher/buff researched my brother on this web site, and surprised me with a gift in which I was able to learn more about his time in the war. Growing up, his lean, lanky, legs would jump fences, and charge "into" a pile of guys to defend someone in the neighborhood- it was no surprise to me when he chose the "Eagles"!! For years, I wondered about that time of his life, and who he had served with. Thank you again, Frank Dunlevy, and Gene Ackman- for sharing your friendship with him and the great things he did.

I sailed nineteen days, from oakland, Ca. to RVN, on the USNS Geiger, in January 1967 with the 9th Pathfinder Detachment, from Fort Riley, Kansas.
At Fort Benning, Georgia, January 1966, I completed my fifth Jump from C-119 Aircraft, (Flying Boxcars).
Upon completion of Jump School, I Volunteered for PPMAD, (Parachute Packing, Maintenace, Arieal Delivery. One of the Finest Schools that I ever Washed Out of. I completed four month 's of training, of the six month SFQ Course at Fort Bragg in 1985.
Two months after flunking out, I was promoted to Sergeant First Class, with the 307th Engineer Bn., 82d Airborne. While with the 307th, I made my first "Stand in the Door" jump! We were in C-141 jets, flying in V formation with other C-141's, and I could see the pilot of another jet, below us, taking a picture of me. I remember thinking, "Who is Flying the Plane?" I Remain Allways a Tiger,

Looking for anyone who knew Ernie L. Moore from Michigan. Ernie was with Bravo Company, 2/327th from June 69 until about April 1970. He transferred into our battalion 3/506th just in time for Cambodia. He was KIA May 10, 1970. We didn't know Ernie since he was with us for only days.

We're trying to help his widow contact anyone who might have known Ernie. He had a gold front tooth and blonde hair. I do have a few photos of Ernie. We have located Platoon Sgt. Romo who knew Ernie at 2/327th. Romo also transferred into 3/506th at same time.

I thank you for any assistance. CURRAHEE!!!

I just went thru the Guestbook,...scanning all 37 pages, for entries with my name.
Nothing. I guess it has been a long time since I kept up with Tigers.
I was an in-country Replacement from the 9th Pathfinder Detachment, 9th Infantry Division, Bearcat.
I was on Orders for assignment to C Company, 1/327
But I talked to Captain McGaha, and joined Tiger Force.
The Blade Newspaper,(Ohio), story about us, contained a map of where Tigers were Operating.
From May until December 1967/
We were a Gung-Ho unit. We did what higer up said to do......ie.....On one patrol, we were set up for the night. While on guard shift, we passed the Starlight Scope from man to man. I was sleeping, when I was awaken, and told to be quiet. On a trail in front of us, were 30+ NVA walking in single file. Our Team Leader, SSG Trout, made a decision not to engage, or follow them. Instead, he transmitted to the rear our coordinates, and there direction of travel. SSG Trout requested a Fire Mission, it was denied. He was told to go after them. SSG Trout replied, Wilco. Then he told us that there was no way we were going on a suicide mission. We had less than twenty Men.
We stayed on alert the rest of the night, and followed the trail at first light.
My point in telling this is, people in the rear had lost sight of the situations we were involved in.
We took care of ourselves, and used common sense, as much as we could.
Like with any Sports Team....Our higher Command, did not always have our intrest in mind.
So some members of Tigers were fustrated and felt constrained in our actions.
When the Air Force dropped leaflets, telling the Villagers we were re-locating them, Higher Up told us, that we were to patrol after the re-location, that any one seen in the Village were considered enemy.
We killed some people, that later were idenified as Civilians. At one point I was called forward to use my M-79 on a suspect running into a hut. I put a round thru a window, and a black pajama clad person stumbled out, and fell down. We went and checked,...it was a old lady. We speculated that she was a Mother of a VC, and just did not want to leave the Village. At first I felt bad, but justified that She was not supposed to be there.
I'm rambling,.....Mick

OK Fellow Tigers,...I changed email address's.
When I read from other Tigers about the "Toledo Blade" (Ohio), Report on our actions, I withdrew from my thoughts, and feelings of that time.
Yesterday, Saturday, 23 December, for the first time, I read the Pulitzer Prize series on our Unit.
I E.T.S.ed 10 April 1968, from Fire Base Hawthorne.
Every since then, I have experienced, "Social Aniexty Disorder".....I can't get to close to anyone.
I re-entered the Army in 1974, after I was sure that the War was over. I Retired in January 1992, with Twenty Years of Service.
I work on Fort Hood with Northrop Grumman, as a Range Helper. Its an Honor to work around, and with Soldiers.
When ever I see a Right Sleeve Screaming Eagle Combat patch, I walk up, shake there hand, and say, have you been stationed at Fort Campbell?
Then I say that I've never been to Campbell, I understand that there are two Gym's there named after 1LT James Gardner, and SSG John Gertch.
Then I explain that the two Medal of Honor's that these Troopers were awarded, where the only MOH's given to 1st Brigade, during the entire Vietnam War.
As an Nineteen Year Old Trooper, I learned so much from my Team mates in Tiger Force. We were Tight.
The "Blades" article, has caused me pain.
Absolutly nothing will change my feelings of the Bonding, and History of our fighting Unit.
I am proud to have served with Brave Paratroopers, of the Bastone Brigade.
I wish all Troopers a Vety Merry Chirstmas,....and a New Year, filled with Peace Toward all of Man kind.
With much Love, and Respect.......Mick
