Gentlemen, I have recently been able to find Sarg. Walter L Takamori 3rd platoon sargent A co. 69-70. I spoke to him on the phone and he is alive and doing well. He was surprized to hear from me. He did not think anyone would remember him! He was WIA in Jan., 1970, by a booby trap and lost some of his heel bone but is able to get around ok. He retired in 1973 and is now 71 years of age. He would love hearing from anyone who remembers him. He does not have a computer but you can reach him at:

Walter L Takamori
95-100 Moenamanu Street
unit 456
Mililani HI. 96789-9998
Phone # 808-623-8958

Please feel free to send him a letter or give him a call
Thanks! I know he will love hearing from you.

Doc Nelson

I was a RTO Feb 1970 to Nov 1970 and spent nearly that whole time either setting up ambushes around the villages or humping around up in the moutains. I was recently going through some old army orders, a Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge, and saw some 35 other guys on those orders along with me. It sparked an interest after almost 35 years to try to reach out to a few. There was only a very few that I could put a face with the name. Most of the time we all used nick names anyways. A few names I recalled and have great respect for were Willy Simmons, Walter Washington, Larry Keese, Timmy O'Connel (?) none as "DOC", 2nd LT Mack, and of course First Sgt. Dearman. There are so many guys that I can picture, in fact I have alot of pictures, but for the life of me I can't put a name with the face. It is really annoying. This web site is great to look through and read, I thought maybe a few may see it and write me back. Thanks for letting me vent and hopefully I will get some responses.

Hi and Abu to all my 327th brothers
I'm looking for a friend, Dan Clint, we were cherries together in Sgt Williams Squad, 2d Platoon/A co/1st 327
I was in Abu company from May 67--Oct 67 when I joined the lrrps, wound up in E Co/20th Inf (LRP) later renamed to C Co/75th Ranger Regiment. You can see pictures of me doing all this at http://www.hackworth.com/photo0022.html
Dan I'd love to talk to you again. You and I learned it all together, shared the same foxholes, humped together, spent the night on various LPs, OPs and every other kind of P, ate out of the same C ration case. I'd love to catch up with you, I always thought you were a helluva fighter, a hard charger even when you were a cherry. You were hard to keep up with for sure.
Remember meeting up in Bragg when you were Derosing and I bought some of your fatigues?
Get ahold of me at jamesgworth@hotmail.com
Good Luck!! Wherever you are I hope its good.
If anybody reading this knows Dan Clint and would get this message to him, I'd be obliged
Abu!!
James Worth

My Dad(my hero) L. A. Latimer was a sniper in the 101st, I am not sure of the rest. He was in Veitnam from 66-67. There are 4 of the original that came back out of the 200 which was not unheard of. He has had contact with those 4 and I can only recall Boatwright as one of them. I am trying to find more information about his group where he was and more info on snipers within this group. He has told me many stories, but has left out details like places and dates and now recently he is very reluctant to tell me much. I hope with more information I can get him to fill in details around the facts. Please email me if you know info that could help.

I have watched many ceremonys, interviews of veterans and a couple of movies this weekend. I have heard taps so many times. I am now, at 8:20 AM watching the wreath laying ceremony at Arlington. I want to thank all veterans still with us and those not with us. One of the comments I heard that President Roosevelt made was that "there will be memorials for those that fought in WW II", it sure took along time. It is too bad, I think my dad and uncles that were there would have enjoyed it. Maybe he would have told me about his experiances; he never did, even after I returned from RVN. At least I knew he was a Platoon leader and Company Commander and wounded by shrapnel in Belgium. I want to say "THANK YOU" all of the WW II veterans. I also say to the Vietnam veterans "WELCOME HOME".
I hope everyone has a thankful and safe day.God Bless those serving, stay alert, stay safe.
Thank you Yankee Jim, Jim Schimeria and others for providing this site and allow me to use it.

I recently, well a few weeks ago, visited the traveling Vietnam Wall that was in Rural Valley, PA, over May 6-9. It is such a beautiful wall. The V for Victory from WWII and the peace sign from this era, just stood out so much. I am honored that so many men and women fought their hearts out to protect out great country. I cried for hours. I kneeled before each name and said a prayer for all of their souls. They left this country to fight, they were brave people whom will never be forgotten.

This time in history really strikes home in my heart. My grandfather is SSG Frederick Tregaskes or Tiger T, or Tiger 6, he was severely wounded on June 27, 1967. I have interviewed countless people about what happened to him on that day.I have thought about the things that those who lost their lives are missing out on, so for them, and for those who came back, to all of you, thank you. Thank you for serving this great country, thank you for suffering in the miserable Vietnam heat, thank you for trying to make my life better, by protecting what we have.

Memorial Day is a time to remember and a time to not forget. I will never forget, you have my promise on that, because as you say, "NO SLACK!"

Although I am was not a member of the Screaming Eagles, I did spend three years of my life in the Army, during the late 70's. I am somewhat of a military history buff and am in the process of reading " Ripcord- Screaming Eagles Under Seige, Vietnam 1970" If any of you guys havent read it, you might consider doing so. Many of the names, you might remember from years past. In my opinion, the grunts did'nt lose the war. The government lost the war. You guys are heros in my book as well as in the minds of alot of people who know anything at all about what happened. I pray that this mess we are into now doesnt turn out to be a replay of what happened then. You would think that we might have learned from the mistakes of the past. But, I wonder.......Take care and God Bless you all.....Spec. 4 Stanley D. Miller

I am an aunt of Army Sgt Sean R. Grilley, who was killed in Iraq Oct 16, 2003. Sean was assigned to the 716th Military Police Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). Unfortunately, Seans parents divorced when he was a child, and there has been almost no contact between his mothers and fathers families since the divorce. His mother obviously did an awesome job raising this young man, and she has my heartfelt sympathy and complete respect. Seans father, a disabled veteran Marine, learned of his sons death from his siblings who happened to have found the information on the internet. because he does not have net access, we siblings are printing articles and mailing to him. He is so proud of the fine man his son had become, of his military service, and is torn about the tragic death of Sean. If anyone who reads this knew or served with Sean, i plead with you to send me an email sharing memories of him. i will make sure his father is provided with any emails I receive regarding Sean. I want my brother to have a belated gift of learning about the young man his precious son had become. My E-mail address is grilleygirl@yahoo.com. I also wish to thank all veterans who have served our country!

Does anyone remember a Sp/4 Frederick J. Hoffman? He was in HHC 2/327 and was KIA Oct. 5, '67 in Quang Tin Province. His nephew, Richard French, is interested in communicating with anyone who knew him. Fred was awarded the Silver Star and promoted to Sgt. posthumously. If you do remember Fred, let me know.
