Thanks for your invite to submit info for a web page link to the 2nd/327th. Following your suggestions I do have a CIB, Jump Wings, Bronze Star, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with Silver Star (equal to 5 oak leaf clusters) and one additional oak leaf cluster, and assorted defunct South Viet Nam Civilian Action Awards, etc.

After finishing my second year of college I enlisted in September, 1966 doing Basic Training at Fort Lewis, WA. On to Fort Gordon Georgia for AIT, Fort Benning, GA for Jump School, then to Fort Bragg, NC and assignment to the 82nd Airborne in April, 1967. In August, 1967 I spent 9 days on the streets of Detroit, MI doing riot duty. Upon return to Fort Bragg my orders for Viet Nam were waiting. September 20, 1967 found me in Saigon for a trip to Bien Hoa then on to Phan Rang for P training with the 101st Airborne, 1st Brigade. After training I joined the 2nd/327th, “C” Co., 2nd Platoon, 2nd Squad in approximately October 3, 1967 in Chu Lai, Viet Nam. I can be seen in the documentary “Same Mud, Same Blood” produced by NBC in December, 1967. I stayed with the Company until December 28 when I collapsed and went to the hospital in Nha Trang. Upon my return the Company had moved to Tay Ninh Province, Nui Ba Dinh Mountain area. I stayed on bunker duty until Tet, 1968, then to Bien Hoa, then to Hue until the end of March, 1968. After the battle of Hue finished reassigned to the 1st Brigade rear area in Phan Rang until early May, 1968 when we moved to Bien Hoa to join the 101st Division rear area. It was during this time that orders assigned me to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Bde, 101st Airborne Division. In late June, 1968 I went forward to Camp Eagle, Hue-Phu Bai north of Da Nang. I became a helicopter door gunner in the Air Platoon of H & H Co., 1st Bde, 101st Airborne, Specialist 5th Class, until my return home April 20, 1969.

I was married in June 1971, divorced June 2006. We had two beautiful girls with one dying in June, 1995 so I currently have one daughter who is 29 years old. I also have two grandchildren who are five and two years old. I earned my law degree, practiced law for awhile, became a Bank Trust Officer, Specialty Corporate lawyer, and elementary school teacher. I am currently disabled through the VA. I travel a lot and have returned to Viet Nam to do humanitarian work. I am unmarried and live in Indio, CA. My e-mail address is d_knox1@yahoo.com. I have been trying to find David Marion Hollowell for a long time without success. Can anyone help me get in touch? Dan
