I had the distinct privilege of being the Plt Ldr of the 3rd Plt. of CO A from Oct. 1970 – Aug. 1971. The Company CO was Craig (Smoke) Trumbo for whom it was a privilege to serve. The men from the 3rd Platoon were a terrific group of men who served and sacrificed for each other and volunteered, without question or hesitation, to come to the rescue of comrades in trouble. (Remember the CA into the hot LZ on Easter, 1971)? I hope the rest of you made it back to the “real world” after I left.
