I went to Nam on the El Tinge with HHC 2/327 as a welder, but had a medic MOS. In Ah Khe medics were in short supply so I went back into the medical field. I humped the bush from there to Qui Nhon and Nha Trang. My last bush time was Tuy Hoa and some around Phan Rang. I was assigned to all the line companies at one time or another till 25 Jun 66 when I DEROSED.
We left Ft. Campbell as Second To None. And when LTC Collins was relieved, the next CO (who may have been LTC Garten) changed us to No Slack, which no one I knew liked. That CO was wounded in a gun jeep mine accident.

I went to Nursing School under the G.I. Bill and went back active for three years as an officer. I then went into and am presently with USAR. I was called up for Gulf War and deployed to Saudi. Now, I may be activated for Afghanistan.

Anyone know what happened to 1SG Pappy Gray?

Second to None;
