I was in 2nd platoon, Co D, 1st Btn, 327 Infantry, April 2 -July 16, 1969. I JUST found this!!! after 55 years. Steve Bodihus, I believe was in my platoon, as well as Randy Lundy who died in August and Doc Lefty who apparently died the same day I was critically wounded WOW! I couldn't find any connections with my platoon since I was medivaced out. I can add to the Tomahawk attack in 1969 since I was supposed to be on it's OP bunker except we were extended on a nearby mountain and watched PUFF do it's magic all night. Ironically, I knew Tom Powers who just survived The 10 assaults on Hamburger Hill and was on that OP bunker, asleep inside. He woke up to a satchel charge going off in the bunker and was stunned--the door flew open and he was hit by 2 AK-47 bullets, followed by another sapper with a pistol shot him twice more. He played dead til near morning and staggered out--He survived and I met him at Great Lakes Naval Hospital--me with paraplegia and him with lots of scars but patched up and sent back to regular duty. I'm desperate to hear from ANYBODY to fill my void of 55 years, esp about Lefty who must have died later that day-Doc Short is the one who attended me, the AK entered my shoulder, put 4 holes in my lung, passed behind my heart and lodged against T-6 vertebrae. My being the machine gunner, I think they set us up for a sniper to hit their favorite target--the M-60!! Ken Tauer
