Hello,
I’m trying to connect with anyone who may have served with or remembers my grandfather, Stephen “Steve” Johnson. He was born in 1949 and served with the 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, A Company (Panthers), part of the 101st Airborne Division – Screaming Eagles, during 1968–1969 in Vietnam. I was told he may have been a Green Beret, and he may have been stationed at Firebase Bastogne at one point. He was wounded during his time overseas—possibly by shrapnel or gunfire to the shoulder and torso.
Steve was from Pe Ell and Raymond, Washington. He was about 5'6" to 5'8" with brown hair. In his military portrait, he wears the Infantry branch insignia, a white infantry shoulder cord, and service ribbons. His uniform also shows a "JOHNSON" name tag and may include a regimental or combat insignia.
If you served with him, have photos, memories, or even just recognize the name or face, I’d be deeply grateful to hear from you. Thank you all for your service.
