Well, I don't think that it was exclusive to Cav, although I'm not sure about that time period. I received three air medals during the period Aug 1970 - Aug 1971 while I was on my second tour.

just wondering...... did anyone with the 1st Brig. from 65 to 68 ever get an Air Medal, or was that just exlusive to the Cav.?

Everybody,
The track record for donations looks pretty dismal. There is a very short list of people who remember that this site needs funding. Dale, Dave, Mouse, and Jim to mention a few, donate an awful lot of time. They shouldn't have to dip in their pockets to keep the site afloat. I just sent my second check for the year. How about you?
Erick

I remember Nov.28,1971 and think about it often. Myself and some others were supposed to be on that chinook with those guys. We missed the T.O so they trucked us to Phubai in 2-1/2's (took some sniper fire on the way). I always thought they went down in the So. China Sea. I just found out the exact story last mo. Just thought I'd send this

I need your help.

My name is Jane Fulkerson and I am a Veteran (Sgt. USArmy 65'- '68). Presently, along with running a funeral home with my husband, I work as a Volunteer Researcher for the 3-506th Infantry, 101st Infantry Division. (long story about how I got hooked into that.....never mind)

At any rate, my task for the last 3 1/2 years has been to find the KIAs of that unit who died in Vietnam. I locate their gravesites, obits, photos and family members. All information I find is sent to the current unit historians.

Currently, I am looking for a man named MICHAEL L. MUNSON who started out with the 3-506th in 67 and 68 and then did another tour in 69, this time assigned to E Company, Recon, 2/327th. (I do not know when his second tour started, could have been late 68.)

At this time, one of the unit historians, Jerald Berry is writing a book, honoring all the men of the 3-506th who died in Vietnam. As I understand it, everybody who served with the 3-506th at one time while in Viet Nam, who died in Viet Nam.....even if attached to another company at the time of their death......will be included in the book.

This search is further complicated by the fact that Michael Munson died in Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver Colorado on January 8, 1969. What I am trying to find out is, did he die as a result of wounds received in Vietnam? My efforts to obtain official records which would clarify this have been denied, because I am not a member of his family.

I need the help of the men who served with Michael during his second tour, to determine if he was wounded while in Vietnam and if that is what contributed to his death. I know that his name is not on the Vietnam Wall, so this further aggravates the situation.

Can you answer my questions? Do you remember Michael and can you shed some light on how he died?

Thank you very much for any help you can give me.

Best regards,

Jane Fulkerson
Currahee Researcher
