I served with Capt. Abood in the 97th Sig. Bn. 60-63. Too bad EMs cant socialize with Officers. He was my kind of guy. I remember he came back drunk from town one night, and rolled a new Corvette. (He got bored, and went back to Airborne) I'm glad he made it safe through Vietnam, but am sorry to hear he has passed away.

Just finished Doug Bergman's "Names I Can't Remember"...hard to describe...was an ABU after 'Nam, but feel that any soldier past or present could relate to this book. Having experienced some of the gut wrenching episodes while trying to find myself that he describes in his book, I find it refreshing that Doug stepped forth and opened his life up for others. I think after reading, folks might be encouraged to look inside and realize that life itself can be a battle, and that there are others out there that are willing to stand alongside and face the storm with you...thanks for having the PX, and thanks for especially for the book "Names I Can't Remember", worth every penny!

My brother served in Viet Nam from July '69-July '70. He was killed in a car crash in April of '88. He never really talked about the war, just about the friends he'd made and how close all you guys were. I guess when you face death every day for a year you just grasp and hold on! I have contacted several of his friends and am very grateful for your site and visit it often. God bless all of you vets and it breaks my heart that you guys didn't come home to a heros welcome. It's not that I approve of the current war, I feel that it's gone on long enough, but I have respect for every soldier that has fought in every war. My dad was in WWII, wounded at the Bulge, and I would love to hear those war stories just one more time. Take care of yourselves and remember that you are all heros in our minds and hearts. Later, Joyce

Russ and I would like to commend two ladies and their support group from Simi Valley, Ca. who have been sending packages to C Company 1/327th for some time now. Paula and Melissa have gathered many items together with the help of a large group of military supporters and mailed them to the Cobra's and have helped to keep the morale of this unit high due to their support. Paula had requested names to send packages to from Fred Brander who her husband served with in Vietnam and ever since have been faithful in their support. Their daughters collected many Girl Scout cookies and they were very welcome by these young soldiers who serve our country and are so happy to hear from someone in the States who care about their morale and well being. Thank you Paula and Melissa and the folks in Simi Valley who have been so giving to the Cold Steel Cobras.

I just read the write up about Ed and Terry Kurth, and I was wondering why it sounded so familiar. I am the FRG (Family Readiness Group) Leader for BCo 1-327th INF. The current CO, CPT Lewis, wrote that in the latest edition of our newsletter. I just have to state that they are absolutely wonderful people, and they have done so much for our guys. It is tough being a military wife to a deployed soldier, but with the love and support that myself, and the men of BCo have gotten, it makes it much easier. I want to personally thank Ed and Terry for everything that they have and continue to do. I would also like the thank Don Dornell. Without his support, and the support of Burlingame, CA, the men of BCo would not be as well off as they are. THANK YOU!!
Stay safe Bushmasters.
