Friggin outstanding site. Best times of my life with 327th. Served in HHC 1/327 81mm Mortars as 1st squad leader 1990-1992.
Still "Above the Rest" in everything I do. Can't forget the road warrior raid on the scouts before the big kickoff. Damn Primadonnas...
High angle hell forever.

Today ,39 years ago on Firebase Veghel That we had taken the evening before we lost friends in an ambush. The Engineers had cleared a LZ and secured it. On the way to LZ NVA ambushed the patrol bringing the wounded down the hill. Can!t remimber how many additional wounded or killed. Do know 4 Engineers and 3 infantry were trapped between Company and LZ . I was Sgt of engineers and am thankful for those who sacrificed their lives so that I could live . I would have sacrificed my life for them at any time.Memories of all who lost their lives are with me daily. I served with C Company 14 months from April 67 to May of 68.

I was in the 1st Platoon A Co. 2/327 in Vietnam from April 66 thru April 67. I walked point, was a team leader, and one of the first 12 snipers trained in Vietnam. I was assigned to the Hawk platoon for a month or so and I am looking for anyone that was in my unit. Col. Furgeson, you were right on target in your "Battle of Trung Luong" description, also under "Battles" on this site. I still have dreams about that battle. It was tough. You were the best leader and friend any of us could ask for.

One of my best friends in High School and growing up was "Colli" Del Odegard, He was killed on 1-30-1968, I was in country on LZ Ross, I went in to the Army with myself and Colli and two other friends, the other two were assigned to the 173rd, Bob Degan was KIA on 11-20-1967 and Prentis Boykin was KIA on 3-14-1968. Last summer I finally went home and said goodbye to all of them, but if any of you knew Dell I would like you to know this he was one hell of a baseball player and a good friend, I just wish I could have told him that myself but I will when I see them all again.
