40 years ago tonight Les Kimbrell was the first American soldier wounded in action in Vietnam. He was hit by grenade shrapnel at Phan Thiet. 10 seconds after midnight on the first of January 1968. Les just retired after being a coach in Plano, Texas for many years and is doing well

Tonight, 39 years ago, I was setting on guard duty on a bunker, hwy#1 Nuoc Ngot bridge sipping on a bottle of Jack. There was no repeat of 68 TET. It was a peaceful night.
