The Website continues to improve, looks great!!!

Had several long chats with HCSM of the Regiment Joe Bossi at the Static Line Reunion. He tells me that the planning for Week of the Eagles is well underway and it is shaping up to be a great time.

Right now I believe I am correct in saying that WOE kicks off with unit events and competitions on Friday 14 August. Those events will continue through the weekend and really kick into high gear the following week. Final schedules are still being worked but it appears major events will be taking place starting on Tuesday the 18th culminating with the Division Review on Thursday the 20th and a giant barbecue that evening!!! Remember we vets also get a chance to Pass in Review before the Division does its thing on the 20th.

This is our opportunity to show our thanks to the Active Duty members of our Regiment for all they are doing to keep us free and to prosecute the War on Islamic Radicalism/Terrorism. Yea, I know that may not be very PC in Washington these days but as most of you know I have never been one to back away reality. Lets all plan on getting down to Fort Campbell for the WOE and showing our soldiers how much we appreciate their sacrifices for our nation. It doesnt matter when you served with the Bastogne Brigade, paratroope, gliderman or air assault soldier we are members of the CLUB and earned that designation the hard way. Hope to see as many of you as can make it at the WOE.
Remember, its ALL ABOUT THE CLUB!

God Bless the USA and God Bless our servicemen and women throughout the world.

Airborne - Air Assault, ALL THE WAY!

Larry Redmond, DMOR, Bastogne Brigade

Ed Freeman
Youre an 19 year old kid. Youre critically wounded, and dying in the jungle in the Ia Drang Valley , 11-14-1965, LZ X-ray, Vietnam . Your infantry unit is outnumbered 8 - 1, and the enemy fire is so intense, from 100 or 200 yards away, that your own Infantry Commander has ordered the MediVac helicopters to stop coming in.
Youre lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns, and you know youre not getting out. Your family is 1/2 way around the world, 12,000 miles away, and youll never see them again. As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.
Then, over the machine gun noise, you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter, and you look up to see an un-armed Huey, but it doesnt seem real, because no Medi-Vac markings are on it..
Ed Freeman is coming for you. Hes not Medi-Vac, so its not his job, but hes flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire, after the Medi-Vacs were ordered not to come.
Hes coming anyway.
And he drops it in, and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load 2 or 3 of you on board.
Then he flies you up and out through the gunfire, to the Doctors and Nurses.
And, he kept coming back.... 13 more times..... And took about 30 of you and your buddies out, who would never have gotten out.
Medal of Honor Recipient, Ed Freeman, died last Wednesday at the age of 80, in Boise , ID ......May God rest his soul......
I bet you didnt hear about this heros
passing, but we sure were told a whole
bunch about some Hip-Hop Coward
beating the crap out of his "girlfriend"

Medal of Honor Winner
Ed Freeman!

Late Sept. 68 a Huey dropped a buddy from infantry school, Guidry from Alabama, and me off at FB Bastogne to begin our assignments with 2/327. I was assigned to Co B and my Lt. pointed to a hill "Your squad is at the top of rocket hill!" Joe Won came down and got me and cases of ammo, it was a butt kicking climb up. I met the squad and was sent back down with the other "Cherry" Reb to get C-rats, more butt kicking climb back up. Now so many years later I wonder if the Re-up Bird and the F...-you Lizard really existed or were they just some smart ass?

I was in NO SLACK 2/327 1999-2001. Went to Kosovo with them in 2000. Checking in I guess due to the suprising amount of history in regards to this unit. You dont think about it much until its gone. Best of luck to all who served past and present in 327. Keep it alive, especially you younger Soldiers.

My great uncle, Ralph Harter was KIA in France on 6/10/1944 while serving with the 327th infantry regiment, 101st airborne division. Though all who knew him are gone, after all of these years, he continues to be loved and missed by his family.

Served with C and D companies from 3/68 until 6/69.
I was attached from the 1/326 Engineers.
Started in country at Song Be, then moved north during Tet and finally Ashau.
Was wounded in Ashau.
I could not have served with a better group of "grunts".
I will never forget Ashau. Hopefully, one day, I will quit dreaming about it.
I will never forget the days humping. The nights of guard duty in the boonies. You know, a few hours on and a few off. To only get up and hump again.
And to think our reward was a stand down now and then.

Im the current commander of 2-327IN, "No Slack", and Im honored to be here. With our Week of the Eagles coming up in August of 2009, it would be absolutely fantastic if any of our older veterans (and those across the Bastogne Brigade as well), can make it down to Fort Campbell, KY for this reunion of current and Veteran Soldiers.

I want to thank all, who work so hard to mold this site into what has become one of the premier military sites on the web. A great place to re-connect, share a story, read up on some history, or just chime in on the guest book. I am extremely proud of our unit and the men and women who enteract on a daily basis to share a joke, argue a political point, or post valued information. Jerry Aggson 1/327 65-66
