Most south vietnamese people in my ages have known this name : He is our hero of the war.

First time at this site, and for the short time I've been here it looks like a great site. What I remember best was when I moved into the motor pool hooch was, I was the only guy from north of the Mason/Dixon line. Learned real quick what country western music was. Don't have much time now to look at all the replies, but plan on reading all that I can. If you remember me, please email me and shake up this bad memory that I have.

I remember Christmas of 1966. We were near Kontum. I think there was a cease fire but we (1st platoon C company 1/327) had to go on patrol. I guess it was to make sure the other guys lived up to it. It was an uneventful patrol but we came upon a wide river with some native canoes/kayaks. A couple of us try to take them out in the river but they immediately sank under our weight. It's not that we were so heavy it's just that these boats were made for small people.
