1/327th Infantry “Above The Rest” Vietnam
Steve Pohancek's Photos
Pictures submitted in memory of Steve by:

Stevie used to carry me around when I was an infant. I always recognized him in all the old photos. In early 1971, at my home in Colorado, just after the holidays, we received a phone call. It was from the family back in Chicago; Stevie was killed in action on 24 Dec. 1970. I remember that day we got the news; the sun was shining, there was snow on the ground, and Stevie was dead. As of late, I have been doing some research on what happened, and where it occurred. I learned a great deal about my cousin from his friends, his letters home, and his photos. In about 2 years, I’ll go to Vietnam (Firebase Bastogne) to stand on the ground where he left his life’s blood. He and I will be together; always.
Semper Vigilans, Stevie!
From your cousin, Welby.
