My brother Scott A. Christofferson got assigned to the PIO section of HQ Co. 1st Bde, 101 ABN soon after he got sent to Vietnam. (they had an ad out for combat reporters, he went to the tent…………and got the job)……….in any event, he went out mostly with A and B company, 2BN, 327th Inf, 101st and wrote stories and submitted them to the PIO Officer. He was killed in a firefight on Oct 8th, 1967 when he was out with A Co near Tam Ky in Quam Nam Province…………………actually reported in the Screaming Eagle a month later ( I understand the Screaming Eagle was out of print from Sept 13 to Oct 16, 1967 which probably explains the time lapse that that firefight was reported and printed)……….on November 9th, 1967. The article didn’t mention his name…………just that a combat reporter was killed in the ambush………………one of the soldiers out with him at that time, sent me the article describing that firefight.
