I was known as “Rosey” while in the Army in Vietnam. I am from Minnesota where I was drafted into the Army in January 1971 at the age of 21.

I was assigned to “C” Co. 1/327th in November of 1971. I served until late December of 1971 when I and 8 others were injured in an attack on our platoon positions. I cannot remember the date this happened nor the exact point in the I Corps area. I was sent to Phu Bai by Medivac and then flown onto Bien Hoa for convalescence. I did not return to the 327th. They stood down and went back to the world in January and, as I understand, had a big parade in San Mateo, California. I was re-assigned to “E” Co. 1/7, 1st Cav Division where I was in Recon and Mortars until June of 1972.

I have been looking for anyone who served in my platoon in December of 1971. I always wanted to know what happened to some of the injured. I had heard that our “Doc” who took care of us and made sure we got out, was also severely hurt, but did not tell anyone until he was sure we all were evacuated out.
