Al, call sign “Thor” served in Viet Nam from January 1967 to January 1968 as a Platoon Leader and following that I am not sure whether he became an XO or took another position. He died in a private plane crash in Alaska (July 4, 1988) on his way to a fishing trip with three friends. His wife, Judy, told me Al felt one of the most meaningful things he did in his life was serve with the 1st Brigade in Viet Nam. He leaves behind Judy and two sons, Eric and Shane.
