A Soldier

My name is Michelle. I’m the daughter of a Vietnam Veteran (Army) and the wife of a Gulf War Veteran, still active Army.

My daughter Samantha who wrote this poem, is 13 and in the 7th grade. She wants to join the military, she says she wants to be like grandpa and daddy :o)

From our family to all the Veterans
WELCOME HOME
THANK YOU
AND
WE LOVE YOU !!

A SOLDIER

A soldier who sits all alone
Beside his friend
Who will never go home
Thinks of what will happen next
Will he go back
Or die like the rest
And as the smoke blows on by
He leaves with his friend
Who starts to die
Then 30 years later
as he stands by the WALL
He looks at the name
Which will always stand tall.
