Vietnam 1st Battalion
Chris Bayless
C Company 1966 – 1967
I was drafted into the Army December 7th 1966. I went to Fort Gordon for AIT then Fort Benning to jump school. I went to Viet Nam to Duc To to the 1st Platoon, C Company, 1st of the 327th, 1st Brigade 101st Airborne Division June 14th 1966. I was WIA in Thuy Hoa on September 3rd 1966. Went to Japan for repairs and returned to my platoon on January 2, 1967 in time for the parachute jump in Kontum. We went on the boat to Chu Lai around May or April ’67. I ghosted as a Chaplin’s assistant for a month and a half until DEROS on June 13th 1967. I am just now dealing with PTSD and my gun shot wound. This web site has enabled me to get in contact with two of my Viet Nam buddies so far. Many thanks to Dave Markham who welcomed me into the 101st web site!! It’s a good feeling to be back with my brothers! I have lived in the LA area most of the time, and have been in and out of the construction biz. I am married to a wonderful lady, Maureen, for three years and have a 24 year old son Aram who lives near-by.
