I was attached from the 1/326 Engineers, and served with C and D Companies from 3/68 until 6/69.
Started in country at Song Be, then moved north during Tet and finally Ashau and was wounded in Ashau.
I could not have served with a better group of “grunts”. I will never forget Ashau. Hopefully, one day, I will quit dreaming about it.
I will never forget the days humping. The nights of guard duty in the boonies. You know, a few hours on and a few off. To only get up and hump again. And to think our reward was a stand down now and then.
